This afro said a lot, but other hair has stories of its own

It’s Tuesday and that’s pretty good, in the sense that it isn’t Monday, right? Right. Also in the sense that there’s some pretty good things going on, as per the Brokelyn Events Calendar, which obviously isn’t special to Tuesday but is at least nice. I don’t know, Tuesdays are pretty anonymous, but maybe you can make your Tuesday less so by going out and having some fun at one of these things.

FIRESTONE SUCCESS ACADEMY: HOW TO BE A GOOD LOVER
Living in the big city, there are parts of life that can be tough to master. For instance, with a bevy of dating apps out there and people just waiting to screenshot your awkward advance for their Tumblr, how can one be a good lover? Fortunately tonight, a panel of comedians headed by Chris Duffy will let you in on the secrets of being great at romance. It’s fortunate provided you want comedians running your love life, that is.

ME, MY HAIR AND I: 27 WOMEN UNTANGLE AN OBSESSION
Women have a lot of angst and agita about their hair, which I don’t mean to say to set up a bad standup bit. Society has deemed their hair says a lot, so they’re stuck always worrying about it. So, listen to some female writers, like Rosie Schaap, Siri Hustvedt and Anne Kreamer break down what their hair means to them and the lengths they go towards making it perfect and either nod along or learn something you might not have considered.

BEEF: A NIGHT OF MANFUL PERFORMANCE
Yes, being a vegetarian or vegan is popular in Brooklyn, but did anyone ever say anything about not being allowed to eat beef with your eyes if you’ve forsaken it with your mouth? It’s a great loophole, and you can get a week’s worth of your FDA recommended helping of beef tonight by seeing some manly burlesque tonight. After all, when’s the last time someone described an attractive person of any kind as looking like sofritas or a carrot?

SUBREDDIT LIVE: 5TH MONTHIVERSARY
Our own Sam Corbin has been running Subreddit Live, her internet come to life comedy show, for a whole five months, so her and her partner Ally Spier are celebrating. How? The same way they do very month, with a few comedians (like Isaac Oliver and Danielle Wheeler) and internet-based comedy like the reading of Yelp reviews and playing of reaction GIFs.
8:30pm, South 4th Bar, 90 South 4th Street, Williamsburg, FREE

SILENT BENEFIT: O+O+/BODY HORROR/LEA BERTUCCI/MUSCULAR
As you all know, the Silent Barn has suffered misfortune again. The good news is that this Job of D.I.Y. venues has a lot of friends out there, and some of them have already gotten together to put on a show to help them with some covering some of the costs of the fire that hit the venue. So go to the show tonight, and then you can be one of those people who when someone asks what you did last night, can casually say you went to a benefit show.
