It’s gonna finally start getting nice out next week (allegedly), so it’s time for you to get out there and either explore your neighborhood or explore a new neighborhood. If you want a decent map to one, the Flatbush Development Corporation is inviting you down to Cortelyou Road to see everything it has to offer, and do it on the cheap, with drink specials, coupons and prix fixe dinners, all part of Eat and Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou.
Cortelyou Road, if you’re not familiar with it, is in Ditmas Park. And while we’ve previously highlighted Ditmas Park’s charitable breast milk merchants, the neighborhood has so much more to offer, which you can learn about between Monday, April 7 to Sunday, April 13. For instance, you can take in a self-guided bar crawl full of drink specials at favorites of ours like Sycamore and Highbury Pub. Or you can get prix fixe meals at places like the Castello Plan, Purple Yam and Mimi’s Hummus. Shops along the block will just give you coupons when you show up to buy things, so it won’t hurt to stop in and look around. And finally, there’s something called The Cortelyou Sandwich Spectacular, which will open your world to brand new sandwiches, with discounts, at sandwich shops like Salahi Deli and Qathra.
So get down to Ditmas Park next week and do some exploring. Then once summer comes and your friends are bored with their neighborhood, you can look cool because you know all about somewhere they haven’t been to yet. And that’s what life is about really, right?
