We get one awesome piece of news about a Brooklyn place re-opening and we guess the universe considers it balance to hand us news that a different one is leaving. Coney Island boardwalk institution Cha Cha’s, already chased off the boardwalk on to Surf Avenue, is now leaving that location. Forever. Amusing the Zillion shared news of their sad tweet announcing it, and I guess we can all look forward to the space becoming a TGI Friday’s in the burgeoning and violent franchise restaurant turf war.

While there was no explicit reason given for the closure of the bar, it’s pretty safe to guess that it starts with “S” and rhymes with “candy.” It’s already a tough proposition to rebuild after the hurricane, even harder when you’re a seasonal business. With any luck, this will end up being one of the few closures that hit old Coney haunts, and come summertime, we’ll be able to mourn Cha Cha’s passing while slamming bumper cars into each other.
