Thru 7/8:Contraband Cinema’ series: BAM presents 27 political films that touch on everything from animal rights to political movements (and Rocky IV). Q+A sessions include former Black Panther Party member Kathleen Cleaver. $12.

5-11pm: First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum presents performances from electro acts Analogue Transit + Dynasty Electric, screenings of I Shot Andy Warhol + Fame, hands-on art, a dance party, more! Free.

8pm: 30 years later and London is still calling. Celebrate the anniversary of The Clash’s iconic ‘London Calling’ album with post-punk band Destroy Babylon playing it in full. Plus, Sex Pistols tribute band God Save Queens. Brooklyn Bowl, $5.

SUNDAY
Coney’s new water slide beach is set to open with three inflatable water slides (one three stories high!) + bungee jumping, $TBA.

12pm: Last year, Joey Chestnut ate 68 (!) hot dogs in 10 minutes. Watch competitive eaters vie for the mustard belt at the annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Free.

2-8pm: 5 Greenpoint bars booze you up with drink specials, giveaways and raffles at the Fourth on Franklin Bar Crawl. Free PBR 2-3 for those wearing red, white and blue. Culminates with a ‘most patriotic costume’ competition @ t.b.d.

8pm: Sci-fi 4th of July: grill on the roof and watch the fireworks (a welcoming to alien friends?) at this three-storey party that moulds sci-fi with patriotism. Surreal Estate (Bushwick), $10.
