Parks Department inexplicably includes Drake in wheelchair ramp rendering

The New York City Parks Department has apparently attempted to bring new life to the inherently drab act of releasing renderings by imposing random memes and celebrities into them. Possible explanations include that an intern at the New York City Parks Department is currently getting fired, Drake is in full control of his image in every dimension and imposed himself here on purpose, or we’re all on drugs.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission released an image of a proposed Fort Greene Park entrance ramp which includes Drake in a Wheelchair utilizing said ramp. The photo is near the bottom of the LPC’s 59-page Fort Greene Park Program Goals PDF.

The at best mediocre Wheelchair Drake meme, created circa 2009, originated as a Degrassi promotion back in 2005. It is unclear why Drake is in Fort Greene, if there are any other celebrities in these renderings, and if renderings are actually the equivalent of those moving photos on the walls of Hogwarts and reflect alternate realities, like one where Fort Greene Park has already been revamped and memes are living, breathing entities.

Either way, it’s good to know the Parks Department and LPC have a sense of humor – either that or there is a small revolution in their midst, and it’s starting with a revolt over the establishment of photorealistic renovation drawings.

Back in 1867, the revered Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux improved the public space for the sake of Brooklyn and her God-fearing citizens; in 2017, millennials can’t even take renderings seriously. Might as well rename the place Parky McParkPark, dye all the grass millennial pink and plant some avocado trees on the lawn, right guys?

UPDATE: Laughing in the foreground is not Akon, as we originally reported, but Joshua Kissi of Street Etiquette, a “mens lifestyle website turned Creative Agency.” Kissi tweeted back in April 2016 that “Drake’s #VIEWS album cover is the most meme-able album cover ever.” This is not a comment on Akon failing to sign Drake way back in the day, apparently, but a hypebeast / superfuture meme.
