We fought for them and carried on for a few years and got them back last year, but let’s be honest, just one year of fireworks wasn’t enough. So we’re happy to report that the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration will once again be taking place along the East River. The announcement came earlier today from Mayor Tall himself, as he calmed the nerves of those who didn’t want the celebration moved back to the Hudson. If New Jersey wants to celebrate the Fourth of July, they can get their own fireworks spectacular.
According to the official NYC website, this years celebration of all things America will take place in two locations, with fireworks firing “from four barges positioned between 23rd and 37th Streets in Midtown and from one double-barge positioned below the Brooklyn Bridge, along the East River and the South Side Seaport.” 40,000 fireworks shells will reportedly be launched into the air (more shells than your average mid-2000’s Jadakiss mixtape). The show begins at 9:20pm, so make sure you don’t miss out because you had yourself one too many Bud Lights during your rooftop BBQ.
