‘The Deuce’ casting background actors to play ‘disco club types’ and ‘gay bar patrons’

“The Deuce”, HBO’s TV show about New York’s days of yore, when Times Square was more murderous and less Disnified, needs people who are good at pretending to like disco. According to an add on Backstage, the series is casting background actors for its upcoming second season, and the descriptions are quite fun.

There are three character categories being sought: Gay bar patrons, 1970s disco club/Studio 54 types, and 1970s punk & artsy types. All applicants should be in the 18 to 40-year-old age range, “comfortable working around atmospheric smoke,” and not have buzz cuts or fades, among a few other minor restrictions.

James Franco, who plays twins, Lindsay Lohan Parent Trap-style, will remain the show’s star and executive producer despite being accused of sexual misconduct by five women.
