Get ready for 30 silky feet of vertical fun! For years now, Russian-born aerialist Anya Sapozhnikova has been dangling, flipping and free-falling from silk high above the ground. And soon you will be too. Come Thursday, one lucky RAFFLE OF THE CENTURY winner will walk away with a PRIVATE aerial silk trapeze lesson (valued at $150, if you bring a friend) from Skybox Studio at The House of Yes. If you’re tired of plodding through the treadmill miles in front of a mounted flat-screen, this may be the fitness spice-up you’ve been looking for.
Opened almost two years ago by Anya and co-owner Jordan Baker, the East Williamsburg/Bushwick studio is THE Brooklyn space for aerial performances and classes. Everyone from bartenders to DJs to Upper East Siders has flocked to learn the craft and see the gravity-defying shows.
The beginning classes are suitable for everyone, and they’re a fast-track to one seriously toned body (no matter how many miles your friends log on the bike, they’ll never match your party moves). And, you’ll just feel like a kid again. Though you might not be free-falling from the ceiling on the first try, at least not the way you want to be, you’ll get up there and try some basic trapeze moves. Safety pads and spotters are, of course, included.
A total release, a total work out… this prize is pure gold silk.
