Looking to see a great concert this summer? Nikon at Jones Beach Theater is the place to be! This outdoor venue sits right on the Atlantic Ocean in Jones Beach State Park, so you can rock out without overheating! Nikon at Jones Beach Theater has shows playing all summer long, and there’s not a bad seat in the house. Take a look at their summer line-up and see if there’s someone you want to see.

3. The Jersey Shore

Who doesn’t love going down to the Shore? There’s so much more to the Jersey Shore than what was depicted on the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore.” Take a walk down the boardwalk and ride the Skycoaster. Visit the Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant. In Seaside Heights, every Sunday and Tuesday night in July and August offers a movie night on the beach. Be sure to finish off the day or just beat the heat with a trip to Kohr’s Frozen Custard.

4. Fire Island

If you’re looking for a nature-filled getaway, then Fire Island is the place to be this summer. A weekend at Fire Island gets you back to nature. If you love to camp, look no further! Fire Island has campsites located at Watch Hill, Otis Pike, and Smith Point. Go for a bike ride, go sailing, kayaking, and take a ride down to The Fire Island Lighthouse, the oldest and most significant landmark associated with Fire Island history. You’ll come back feeling at one with nature.

5. Rockaway Beach

Want all the comfort of the beach without leaving the city? Rockaway Beach is just the place for you! With skate parks, playgrounds, beaches and a boardwalk. Rockaway Beach has something for everyone. Don’t forget to bring a surfboard – Rockaway Beach has the city’s only legal surfing beach!

6. Greenport, NY

Drive time: 97.5 miles; 1 hour and 57 minutes

Greenport’s motto is “You don’t have to go far away to get away” and boy are they right about that.

Greenport Village is only 1.2 square miles, which makes it the perfect size for a walking tour. Start the day exploring the village, then swing by the East End Seaport Museum or take a tour of the Fireboat Fire Fighter to learn about Greenport’s rich maritime history. If vineyards are your thing, look no further! Greenport has 47 vineyards that you can explore! Just hop on the North Fork Wine Tours and spend the day in some of Long Island’s best wineries.

7. Captree State Park – Babylon, NY

Grab your bait box and cast your reel! Captree State Park is the place to fish this summer. Located on the eastern tip of Jones Island at the end of the Ocean Parkway, Captree is home to the largest public fishing fleet on Long Island. There are open and charter boats available for saltwater fishing on the Great South Bay or the Atlantic Ocean. You don’t need a license or your own equipment; Captree has everything you need to have a great day of fishing!

8. Long Beach

If adventure is what you seek from your summer getaway, then you should consider going to Long Beach. While there are your traditional summer adventure activities such as surfing and kite boarding, Long Beach is also home to I.FLY Trapeze! Reserve your spot and start flying through the air in no time. Not feeling super adventurous? No worries, Long Beach has plenty of other safe, on the ground activities as well.

9. Westhampton Beach

The nearest of all of the Hamptons destinations, many visitors fall in love with Westhampton Beach. While you’re there, take a stroll down Main Street and explore Westhampton Beach’s unique shopping opportunities. Head down to Rogers Beach or Lashley Beach and lay out in the sun. Take a break over on the Village Green and wander through the Farmer’s Market that takes place every Saturday. If you want a mellow place to go for a quick summer getaway, Westhampton Beach is the place for you.

10. Hershey, PA

Ready for all the fun-sized, chocolatey thrill Pennsylvania has to offer? Don’t pass up an opportunity to visit Hersheypark, known as “the sweetest place on earth.” Founded in 1906, this family-themed park has about 70 rides and a built-in chocolate factory.
