No matter how fun your family is, their Christmas is probably more fun

It’s Monday and you’re feeling bad. I get it, it’s normal. On the other hand, think about this: the Brokelyn/skint No Office party is next week, and then the week after that is when the annual “Fuck off from everything because Christmas is this week” begins and then after that it’s New Year’s Eve, the best day of the year. Take the long view, but also take the short view, today, right now, because there’s great stuff to do on the Brokelyn Events Calendar.

MARS ICE HOUSE: A NEW HABITAT DESIGN FOR THE EXPLORATION OF MARS
Now that The Martian is out and NASA is hiring astronauts, everyone’s all hopped up on the idea of actually living on Mars. How will we do that though? Tonight, about one proposed way to provide shelter for explorers on Mars, as you get a look at plans for the Mars Ice House, which would 3D print shelters for explorers out of Mars’ abundant ice water.
7:30pm, Genspace, 33 Flatbush Avenue, Fort Greene, FREE

MUPPET VAULT CHRISTMAS
Your regular family is fine, but whatever you wind up doing for Christmas probably can’t compare to how the Muppets spend it. Look at them up there, all cute and felt and the like. Union Hall’s Muppet Vault is opened tonight so we can all have A Muppet Family Christmas, where the whole gang including Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock characters, comes out celebrate goodwill towards humankind and the virgin birth of their puppet savior. And if that’s not enough Muppet for you, there’ll be other holiday clips, singalongs and giveaways. And if that’s not enough for you, you’re being a Grinch.
7:30pm, Union Hall, 702 Union Street, Park Slope, $8

M3 PRESENTS: DOUBLE FEATURE FROM THE MOUSE HOUSE
Here, I got you something for Christmas: a 10-hour loop of the opening song from the animated Robin Hood. It’s perfect to get you in the mood for this Disney double feature at The Way Station, featuring the animal adventures of Robin Hood and Little John outwitting Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. And spending time with English folktales, you can catch Mulan, the Chinese folktale of a young girl who poses as a man in the Chinese army and whoops some serious ass.
7pm, The Way Station, 683 Washington Avenue, Prospect Heights, FREE

BIG BINGO WITH JOE MILES
Going to some kind of lowbrow Secret Santa/Yankee Swap party soon and need a cheap present to donate to the pile? Aren’t you lucky then that Friends and Lovers’ bingo promises mediocre prizes for the winners. And if you’re not in need a cheap trinket to give as a gift, there’s a comedian host and drink specials, so you can still have fun.
8pm, Friends and Lover, 641 Classon Avenue, Crown Heights, FREE

STAR WARS EPISODE 1: THE PHANTOM MENACE: THE MUSICAL
You’ve read about what’s gone into it, and now here’s your chance to see what it would sound like if someone doing a Watto impression sang songs from Annie. This Episode 1/Annie mashup is sure to be incredibly strange, but with The Force Awakens just a week away, it’s as good a time as ever to embrace any and every piece of Star Wars stuff you come across.
10pm, The Annoyance Theater, 376 Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg, $5
