Eat your weight in free Thai Tea flavored ice cream in Park Slope this month

If you’re a committed, dairy-processing hustler than the end of warm weather doesn’t mean the end of ice cream season: it means the beginning of a challenge – to consume tons of deliciously creamy dairy product in spite of the cold. If you’re ready and able and the idea of an IV tube full of ice cream sounds appealing, than mark your calendars for next Saturday.

Park Slope ice creamery SkyIce is hosting its second annual Brain Freeze ice cream eating contest on November 18 from 2 to 4pm at 63 5th Ave. The ice cream-gorging event will be held between nine contestants selected from a pool of over 50 capable ice cream eaters. Competing consumers will down a pint of SkyIce’s Thai Tea flavored ice cream as fast as they can in the name of a $100 SkyIce gift certificate, which they can use to consume more ice cream, as well as a plaque commemorating their achievement. This late November gathering to consume massive amounts of everyone’s favorite frozen milk product is a wonderful opportunity for those looking to break the stigma of not eating ice cream till Memorial Day in the name of proper winter observance. Puritan customs be damned, we will have our ice cream year round!

The event is hosted by the Park Slope 5th Avenue Business Improvement District and will feature a “street fair atmosphere” with free ice cream, “Pad Thai Woonsen”, Thai ice tea and coconut water for all, not just those competing. There will also be giveaways and a DJ.
