In the comic book movie that is our lives, we go around thinking that we’re the heroes, but there are only so many heroes out there. The sad reality is that we’re much more likely to be the hapless bystanders or even hapless villains of our own stories. So, why not embrace that reality next month by buying a ticket to theĀ Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog Sing-Along Party at Union Hall and singing your hapless, loveless lungs out with other wannabe world rulers?
If you’re a Doctor Horrible fan, and enough of one to know most of the words, Union Hall will be hosting a sing-along Saturday, October 4 at midnight for super-fans to get together and boo the ever living shit out of Captain Hammer. Who really is such a dick, even in the pantheon of dickish superheroes. Beyond the musical, the night will be devoted to all things Whedon, with Whedonverse trivia, Doctor Evil-themed drinks and people dressed as characters from Joss Whedon shows and movies. You get all that nerdy bonhomie for just $10, but act fast, the first show in the night sold out already.
When it comes to the world of comic book musicals made by Joss Whedon and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Doctor Horrible is pretty much at the head of the class. The sad story of Doctor Horrible’s attempt to impress Bad Horse and join the Evil League of Evil and at the same time impress Penny, the girl of his dreams, the musical hits the whole range of human emotion before its tragic conclusion. Need to get acquainted or re-acquainted with the musical? Check it out here, on this YouTube video clearly ripped from Netflix. It’s good evil practice, piracy.
