11am-4pm: get your sugar rush at the 2nd annual havemeyer sugar sweets festival bake sale and competition. proceeds support city reliquary. corner of havemeyer and metropolitan (williamsburg).

5pm: learn to make brooms with a master broomsquire using broomcorn grown on the banks of the gowanus. bonus: free six points brew. proteus gowanus, free.

SUNDAY

(ends today): 14 trucks are set to show for the final food truck rally at prospect park’s grand army plaza: coolhaus, gorilla cheese, kimchi taco, red hook lobster pound, souvlaki gr, treats truck, more. pay-as-you-go.

6pm: bring your bestest baked creation to compete in enid’s 9th annual apple pie contest. drink specials, apple fritters, sloppy joes and corndogs available for purchase. greenpoint’s enid’s.

7pm: fifth annual memorial fundraiser for craig murphy, a local anti-poverty advocate whose life was cut short: hummus cook-off, rock-n-roll karaoke, more. public assembly, $5 admission supports the nyc coalition against hunger.

135 artists at 32 sites show their space at the annual gowanus artists studio tour (a.g.a.s.t.). free.

hundreds of nyc locations open their doors to tours for the ninth annual openhousenewyork. free-$5.

the creators project art and technology festival transforms dumbo with installations, film, live music (florence + the machine, atlas sound, four tet, john maus), dj sets (justice, dfa’s juan maclean), more. various locations, free (rsvp req’d for shows).
