SATURDAY
sat 10am-4pm: the first-ever five boro bike fest is set to feature clinics, bike repair, live entertainment + an expo with demos and giveaways. brooklyn bridge park, free.
12-4pm: 70+ artists and organizations provide demos, tips, arts + crafts, more at the go green! greenpoint! earth day festival. mccarren park, free.
4pm: chef-restaurateurs frank castronovo and frank falcinelli discuss recipes from their new cookbook the frankies spuntino kitchen companion + kitchen manual. bpl, free.
6pm-midnight: recession art‘s new group show irrational exuberance (inspired by alan greenspan’s quote of doom) opening party. highlights: an automaton that saws a dollar in half, sculptures made of sunset park dollar store finds, more. the invisible dog, free.
SUNDAY
7pm (every sunday): prospect heights bar the way station plays the latest doctor who episode, free. bonus: their bathroom is a tardis!
7pm: the gutterbilly bbq + arkhams 5th anniversary party features bbq (obvi), vendors, music from the goddamn gallows, amour obscur, more. bell house, $10 adv, $13 dos.

the red hook food vendors open for the season
10am-6pm: the 30th annual sakura matsuri cherry blossom festival boasts the largest collection outside of japan. events include manga artists, j-pop, minbu folk dance, a kids’ origami workshop, sudoku, more. bbg, $15.
11am-7pm: local artisans sell handmade goods and food at the brooklyn lyceum’s annual spring craft market. free admission.
