As you know, if you’re a regular reader of the site, we are often a clearinghouse of good jobs that other companies have to offer you. And that’s good, other companies are just fine. There comes a time though, when a humble website decides we want some of the talented folks applying for other peoples’ jobs, and that time is right now, today. Brokelyn is growing, so we’re hiring, and we want you to come (virtually) hang and help us get better. Brokelyn tattoo not required, but it’d be nice if you happened to have one.
First off, we need an events editor. If you live and breathe Brooklyn nightlife and know all the comics and bands and authors we need to know about before they blow up and get too rich for our blood, you’d be perfect for the job. You’d also be good for the job if you have an eye for details and the smaller things, because in addition to tackling our free weekly events roundup and our weekend events roundup, you’d be managing our events calendar, keeping the dates of everything straight and keeping it free of spam. Bonus if you have event planning experience of your own.
Second, we need a part-time ad person. Sure, we’re called “Brokelyn,” but come on that’s just a fun name, we’re still trying to make some money here. So come aboard and help us do that, by convincing companies large and small to give us some damn loot in exchange for their ads being beamed into the eyeballs of impressionable urban millennials with some but not too much expendable income. Your job will be to sell ads and sponsored posts and drive some of the other promotions we’re cooking up at Brokelyn Labs, and those will be fun promotions to sell.
Third! We need a regular blogger on Wednesdays and Fridays. On your four hour shift, you’ll be doing some shorter blog posts as well as working on some stories that require a little more digging. Come with some knowledge on what’s news in Brooklyn and an eagerness to pitch your own stories, because what fun is it to have someone emailing you telling you what to do all the time?
If you’re interested in any of the positions, shoot an email to brokelyn [AT] gmail.com or dave [AT] brokelyn.com with the job you’re after as the subject along with your resume, and links to your writing samples if you’re going for the editor or blogger job.
And finally, as always, we want more writers to join our squad in a more general capacity. If you know how to live cheap but still have fun in this land of expensive tastes, whether it’s leading people on taco tours, starting arguments over BK’s best bloody marys or preparing people to hit the beach then hit us with your best pitches at dave [AT] brokelyn.com and you too can wind up in a goofy No Office Holiday Party picture.
