We personally can’t vouch for Cristina’s hairdressing talents, but she and her beauty-school sisters are looking for some guinea pigs hair models willing to submit to their newbie stylings for free to $15. She lives in BK, but the school is in lower Manhattan. Here’s the deal:
My school is holding some events and I (and my fellow stylists!) need models. We are taught by excellent instructors in a beautiful, extremely clean studio using professional product lines. We workshop with lead stylists from the top salons in the city. (You know, those ones where people pay $600 for a haircut?) Every step of every service is heavily supervised from start to finish. And it is really, really cheap. Here’s what we need:
1) We are hosting a haircutting fundraising event in Manhattan on Feb. 16. Haircuts are $15 (any style) with 100% of the proceeds going to Haiti relief.
2) We are also hosting a hairstyling competition on Feb. 23 and are looking for models for any style of bob haircut. The haircut is FREE and a lot of us would love to incorporate some cool/funky/creative color (of which the price can be determined… it will be next to nothing.) Rumor has it that this will be judged by stylists and owners of some of the top salons in NYC (previous judges were from Cutler Salon, Frédéric Fekkai Salon, Paul Labrecque Salon, Beth Minardi Salon, etc) and promises to be a great event and an excellent opportunity to get a new look for next-to-nothing.
3) I personally am always looking for people who want to make a drastic/funky color change.
If anyone’s interested in either of the above please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Thanks for posting, Faye! I encourage anyone who wants more info to email me and we can discuss the look you desire! Also, if anyone has any questions about becoming a cosmetology student, I went through the whole scpeal of researching programs, financial aid, etc so I may be able to help you out there as well.
Thanks again, Brokelyn!
I can vouch for her talents! I got my haircut by Cristina the other day for this fundraiser and I LOVE it! That being said, I have never left from a professional haircut liking how they cut/styled it. Cristina did great and was super sweet and actually listened to what I wanted. This is the way to get an amazing haircut for a steal!
Thanks, Steph! It was a pleasure meeting you! If anyone else is interested, please feel free to contact me!
just got my hair colored by cristina, and she is SUPER sweet and SUPER creative and attentive. she listened to everything i wanted, let me know about all my options with my crazy henna’d hair, and she really came up with a great look that i love. super shiny, bright and healthy-looking.
thanks again, cristina!
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Glad to hear that Cristina didn’t turn your hair purple. Unless you asked for purple hair.
Faye, you better watch it…some of the ladies here can attest that I actually do have purple hair! ;) So I can do that too!
Hey – Just wanted to add my 2 cents. Based on seeing this post (and subsequent comments) I made an appointment to get a choppy pixie cut with Cristina a few days ago. She did an AMAZING job! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great cut – she was super-attentive, very personable…and of course incredibly talented. I will definitely be back to see her again when I need another cute haircut!
One more quick comment – if you’d like to see before and after shots of Cristina’s handiwork (and the amazing job she did on my hair), you can check out this post: http://lolafalk.blogspot.com/2010/03/of-19-haircutsand-other-ny-adventures.html
