Enter the Prospect Park camping lottery today!

We know we sound like a broken record, but it bears repeating: summer’s almost over, and before you know it, you’re going to be kvetching about the cold temperatures and thinking back bitterly about all the things you didn’t do, like camp out under the stars. Only you can prevent ever going through all that bitter regret—by entering the Parks Department’s camping lottery for a night of woodsy fun in Prospect Park in September! DNAinfo tells us that signups for the lottery will begin on September 9. 

If you get picked, you and your friends will get to camp out in the park on Saturday, September 19. Think s’more cookouts, night hikes and fireside storytelling galore. And remember that the park normally closes at 9pm to the public, so this’d be a pretty special treat.

According to DNAinfo, registration is open to groups of 2 or more, which is a perfect excuse to get a gang together and apply for this thing. There are 30 group slots available, and tents will be provided free of charge by the Parks Department. All you have to do is bring your own bedding, food and (non-alcoholic) beverage.
