Eat free pizza while watching plays about pizza for free at Legion tonight

Will the emotional scene where Spicoli loses his pizza be an inspiration for the plays? Maybe!

Pizza! New Yorkers love pizza, and why not? Even if you’re foolishly trying to scarf it down before seeing a movie and it’s burning your mouth and your mouth has been burned for like a week, it’s still totally worth it. The other thing New Yorkers love besides pizza is theater, so beacon of comedy Jo Firestone has assembled a free night of short plays, with free pizza for the audience at Williamsburg’s Legion Bar (790 Metropolitan Avenue) tonight at 8pm. Hopefully someone will do a play reminding you to always get a large pie, as it’s the best value.

Actually, we probably downplayed the plays a little bit, because aside from eating free pizza, you’ll be watching plays that are about pizza too. Whaaaat? Yep, pizza-themed plays during which you can eat free pizza lovingly provided by Jo and her co-host Anthony Apruzzese.

Now, with a lineup featuring plays from the likes of Manboobs Comedy (Tamberlli’s comedy troupe), Michael Wolf and Firestone and Apruzzese among others, you shouldn’t worry about any of them being duds. Even if a play is though, each one is just eight minutes, which as the event invitation points out is “one minute for each delicious slice of pizza in a pizza pie.” They’ve clearly planned all of this pizza goodness out, and the best part for you is that all you need to do is show up with an appetite.
