In terms of Williamsburg history, anything 50 years old is so damned ancient that we might as well be excavating amber to extract its DNA and build a theme park out of it. Yet Crest Hardware has in fact been a vibrant part of the community for half a decade, long before even the New York Times was on the Williamsburg tip. You can celebrate the neighborhood institution’s 50th anniversary this Saturday with the fifth annual Crest Fest, the store’s huge free music, art and a vendor market featuring local food and crafts. It’s a big, family friendly outdoor event with face painting for kids (and we have word a surprise guest will be on hand too). And don’t forget: You can win a $75 gift card, tote bag and coffee mug from Crest at the Brokelyn Summer Camp party tomorrow!
The fest also serves as the kickoff to the Crest Art Show, which will run until Aug. 31.
Bands performing on Saturday Aabaraki, Grey Sky Appeal, Hard Nips, PitchBlak Brass Band and Workoutand DJ sets are by Petey Complex, Lucas Walters, Dom Leon, King Cut, Peter Haleand Krunk Pony.
