Celebrate 10 years of bizarre film at the Druid Underground Film Festival this weekend

There’s strange like the way that impossibly vanilla friend of yours found the new Blade Runner “weird” and there’s strange like cult classics – The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Eraserhead, A Clockwork Orange – and then there’s the barrage of bizarre offered up by the Druid Underground Film Festival. If you’re the kind of person who likes watching inane humor be combined with amateur cartoons and film-making chops at break-neck speed with the motive of blowing, “your mind out of your skull,” then come to Catland Books in Bushwick this Saturday – or The Spectacle Theater in Williamsburg the following day.

Billy Burgess, the host and founder of the high-powered rebel cinema hose which is Druid Underground, will be showcasing the best of the festival’s 10 years of existence in honor of its continued ability to get weird and go strong.

The indie film bash will be this Saturday, from 7 to 10pm at Bushwick’s esoteric books shop, located on 987 Flushing Ave. The $10 cover includes a free raffle ticket. Almost 30 short films will be screened, including titles like “Placenta,” “You Wouldn’t Steal a Meme,” and “I Live in the Woods”.

If you’re a fan of darkly comedic explosions and gory love stories, check out the trailer and full lineup on the event’s Facebook page.
