It’s gonna be hot today. Like swamp-ass-inducing, chocolate-in-your-purse-melting hot. And since our concrete jungle has all those hard surfaces reflecting heat down onto the unsuspecting public, you’re probably going to need a way to cool down at some point. Lucky for you, it’s free cone day at Haagen-Dazs today! And double-lucky for you, there are participating store locations in Brooklyn.
Free cone day runs from 4pm-8pm at participating Haagen-Dazs locations. Usually, free cones involve risky travels into the hellfire of midtown, with no guarantee of success. But Haagen-Dazs actually has a few different locations around the borough, thank the lord. There are stores in Park Slope (109 Seventh Avenue), Brooklyn Heights (120 Montague Street) and Marine Park (5172 Kings Plaza), not to mention plenty of downtown Manhattan spots that are just a short, waterbottle-equipped bike ride across the bridges.
Before you leave the house, please remember that it’s 90 freaking degrees outside, so you should be wearing shorts. If the risk of passing out from the “free ice cream!” commute is greater than the pleasure you’re going to derive from a single kiddy-sized scoop of Dulce De Leche, then for pete’s sake, just buy a pint at the deli.
