What kind of movie buff are you? If it’s culture you crave and high cinematic-class you can’t live without, then you’re exactly the movie buff BAM Rose Cinemas wants in the family. And we’re playing happy matchmaker. The ritzy glam of BAM is just what our birthday raffle‘s all about. On top of the theater’s steady stream of art-house indies (ok, and the occasional big-budget romp), the century-old Brooklyn edifice is also home to some of the best music and theater performances in the city. And your deeply-discounted ticket in, a Movie Buff membership ($70 value), will be within your grasp Thursday night.
What exactly does the Movie Buff Membership Card entail? Well, $4 off all films, for starters, plus priority access to screenings and events, special members-only screenings and discussions with filmmakers, two guest passes at member price ($4 off), and 10 percent-off table-service dining at the lovely BAM Cafe. Not to mention the awesome local deals: up to $300 off a Crunch gym membership, discounts and offers at over 30 local restaurants, including Habana Outpost, Pequena, and Two Boots, and a 20 percent discount at BAM’s Shakespeare & Co. kiosk.
And be sure to check out all the cool (but high-culture) happenings at BAM this summer, including the BAMcinemaFest, which kicks off June 9. So if you snatch up the membership, you can start reaping the rewards the very next day.
The First Annual Brokelyn Charity Ball will be held June 10 from 7 to 11 at at Night Owl in Williamsburg, 160 N. 4th St. at Bedford Ave. Coming? Let us know by RSVPing in the Facebook page, where you can also see all the other fine prizes.

I certainly hope I’m not worthy. BAM’s choices on new releases are cringe inducing. it makes the Angelika look good. If only the folks at Film Forum could program BAM’s cinemas!
Yes–Sex and the City II AND Babies? Who programmed that vile pairing?
But the BAM repertory choices are often excellent, the prints excellent and the speakers and other perks well worth joining BAM’s cinema club. I’ve been a member for at least four years and it’s been well worth it.
