Hello history: Beastie Boys walking tour and MCA party this Saturday

Want to know what happened to the real Paul’s Boutique? This is the tour for you.

It feels like we’ve spent all summer mourning MCA on BBQ playlists and jukebox requests. Some Beastie fans decided they wanted to do more than mourn this weekend: they’re organizing a big Beastie Boys walking tour and celebration this Saturday, which also happens to be the day before Adam Yauch’s birthday. The tour will hit up a dozen places, from the site of the Beasties’ first show (John Berry’s loft on the Upper West Side) to the location of the Paul’s Boutique album cover and down to see the new fan-made MCA mural in Midwood. The organizer writes on facebook: “Expect lots of Beastie Boys related music, fans sharing stories, and most importantly, good times.” And it’s free too.

The tour starts at 9am and ends with a party at Overlook in (boooo!) Midtown at 8pm.
