As fancy as your Xboxes may get or as convenient as your Seamless apps may be, there is no denying that certain things have that eternal American summer appeal: apple pies, BBQs and, of course, fishing! This one is mostly for kids, but perhaps you have the chance to grab a hold of one through babysitting, borrowing or procreating of your own: Macy’s is offering free fishing clinics in Prospect Park every Saturday and Sunday throughout August. Fishing poles are included too!

The lessons are for kids 15 and under (adult guardian required, which is where you come in). Of course, all fishing in the park is catch-and-release, because, as Mitch Hedberg says, you don’t want to eat the fish, you just want to make it really late for something.

The clinics are held:

Saturdays in July and August, 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.

Sundays in July and August, 2 p.m.

Meet at the Audubon Center.

Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call (718) 287-3400 x303 for details.
