Hey, Brooklyn artists, do you love drinking, fame and cash? Of course you do. And a new contest sponsored by a company that commissions ad murals is giving you the opportunity to combine all those interests; they’re looking for local artists to be the face of a top client’s new campaign. Man, between jingle competitions and the upcoming return of Don Draper, if there was ever a time to try and get into advertising, this is it.
Williamsburg-based Colossal Media, which is partnered with renowned mural art company Sky High Murals , is putting out calls for artists in eight U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin and our very own New York (“specifically for Brooklyn,” a spokesperson told us). A top-secret, “major national alcohol brand” wants to use local pieces in their ad campaign, so they’re asking artists to send in their portfolios and examples of their best work. The brand will pick a winner from each location, and Colossal’s crew will handpaint a replication of their artwork in their city to use in the ad campaign. And aside from having your work emblazoned on buildings all over Williamsburg (and elsewhere) there will also be some monetary compensation, though that amount hasn’t been set yet.
To apply, send an email to [email protected] with your contact information, a link to your portfolio or a scanned image of your best work. They ask that you be comfortable working with a company that sells alcohol, so if you feel like Jack Daniels is the devil and is out to make children’s tongues fall out or whatever, maybe don’t apply. If not, submissions are due TOMORROW (3/21), so act fast, and look forward to seeing your name in (handpainted) lights.
