We’re getting there, but there’s still work to be done when it comes to rebuilding everything wrecked by Sandy. And that, of course, takes money. And while just donating money to charity can give you a nice feeling inside, sometimes it’s nice to get something back for giving. Like, say, Daily Show tickets. Starting tonight, you can bid on those, and other great items with the “Bid 4 BKLYN” auction that benefits a Sandy relief program in Coney Island, and there’s a launch party for the auction at Spike Hill tonight as well.
100% of the proceeds raised by the auction, run by Brooklyn Community Services, will go towards BKLYN Builders, a BCS offshoot that provides beds, furniture and essentials to families in Coney Island impacted by Sandy. The prizes range from gift certificates to restaurants such as Buttermilk Channel, the chance to be an extra on FX’s The Americans and the aforementioned Daily Show tickets.
The kickoff party tonight is free, and will have a DJ and live musical performances, along with a raffle if you’re the type that wants more immediate rewards. And take it from us: if you win the Daily Show tickets, don’t yell out from the audience asking Jon Stewart if you can have a job. He will humiliate you.
