Oh, you’re still here? Well, pull up a chair. Sit down. Get comfy. Here’s the latest update in regards to the L train apocalypse: the city’s latest plan is to turn 14th Street into a bus-only area between the hours of 5 am and 10 pm, every single day.
Yeah, you read that correctly.
In MTA court documents, bus travel will be the only way to get around. And, whether you live off of the L, or just commute to Union Square, it’s going to affect your day-to-day routine. According to doNYC, the “The bus-only zone would be enacted on 14th Street from Ninth to Third Avenues, eastbound, and Third to Eighth Avenues, westbound.” Essentially, the MTA is prioritizing bus service as a means to an end.
But, will it run smoothly? As usual, we remain skeptical.

Yes, you put 40 people on a bus that can move freely instead of 40 people in 40 taxis/TLC vehicles (plus random private cars, vans, whatevers) clogging the entire corridor. I’m surprised to see this framed as a bad thing.
This is a good idea. Or the best idea given the circumstances. I don’t see what your problem is.
