There are so many things to recommend about summer in New York City, but at the top is definitely our plethora of free outdoor concerts. You can argue about where on the list you want to put them, but us, we’re just going to keep reveling in the release of one schedule of shows after another. Today we’ve got the schedule for the 2015 SummerStage, which not only has more shows in Brooklyn than last year’s program, but also will bring your free chances to see rocking young metal dudes Unlocking the Truth and hip-hop lifer Biz Markie, for free. Pretty good mix of concerts to get wild at along with some family-friendly offerings, if you ask us. Of course, if you want to leave Brooklyn for some reason this summer, there’s plenty of SummerStage action going on in the rest of the city, with highlights including a free show from George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic on July 15, a Michael Jackson Tribute show at the East River Park (the Manhattan one) on August 9 and a Father John Misty show on August 5 at Central Park that you could pay $35 for or you could just sit outside the bandshell drinking wine a blanket. Your choice.
