The trailer for Spike Lee’s much-awaited return to Brooklyn/return to form Red Hook Summer dropped today. And from the looks of it the rumors that this was a sequel to Do The Right Thing are entirely unfounded. The trailer mostly focuses on a kid from Atlanta who comes to spend the summer in the Red Hook housing projects with his fiery preacher grandfather (Clarke Peters of The Wire). He goes on to meet a girl who shows him the brighter side of Brooklyn. What do you think? Excited to see it? So long as there isn’t some complicated back story involving engineers and convoluted DNA origin stories, we’ll be there.
The movie comes out Aug. 10 in select theaters.
