Only singles qualify for these $856 Bushwick studios

The sweet treats and romantic dinners couples are sharing tonight pale in comparison to this grand opportunity for singles and singles only: an $856/month Bushwick studio.

There are only two units available at this pretty affordable price in 16 Charles Place, a newly constructed building with eight units currently open to affordable housing lottery. Five of the other six units are, admittedly, exclusively open to multi-person households but like hey, those studios are cheapest.

Only one-person households are eligible for the lowest priced units though. To qualify for these, applicants must make between $29,349 and $40,080 annually. One-person households can also apply for the two one-bedrooms, which are renting for $985/month, but two-person households are eligible as well. For two-bedroom units, which are renting for $1,114/month, two- to three-person households making between $38,195 and $57,240 are eligible.

________

The building has a roof top and lounge, and for extra cash a laundry room and parking spaces. It is located on a dead end street a short walk from the Myrtle Ave. J, M and Z trains, and also Silent Barn.

The building’s lottery opened to application on Monday and will be accepting them through March 6. Like most affordable lotteries, a percentage of units will be set aside for applicants with mobility-, vision-, and hearing-disabilities and preference on half the units will be for residents of the area’s Brooklyn Community Board 4, as well as preference for five percent of units for Municipal employees.

Don’t be scammed: these lotteries never require an application or broker’s fee.
