One of the best things about living in Brooklyn is its strong sense of community. What with Sour Patch Kids and glammed up yuppies moving in across the street, it’s important for us to stick together. We can’t forget that some of our neighbors are really struggling this season. Good thing Brooklynites are so good at having a blast while lending a helping hand. You can do just that this weekend, by playing shuffleboard and drinking at the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club (514 Union Street, Gowanus) at a fundraiser for soup kitchen CHiPS on Sunday, November 9 from 4pm – 7pm.
Help Park Slope soup kitchen CHiPS feed the Brooklyn homeless by attending their shuffleboard fundraiser this coming Sunday, while also just king of hanging out. You can practice deck games for that winter cruise you probably won’t go on and improve your community at the same time, which as we know, is the best of both worlds. The $25 ticket on sale here will get you one free drink and as much shuffleboard as you can handle for three hours. Each pair of tickets raise enough money for 15 meals at the CHiPS soup kitchen so make sure to bring a friend. We’re more than happy to forgo a few beers this week if it means we can feed 15 people when they need it most.
