There’s no such thing as a bad free summer movie, but thank goodness Gowanus’ Canal Bar (270 Third Avenue) didn’t force us to put that shaky blanket statement to the test. Their summer movie series hits all the highlights you’d want, with old-timey adventures, dinosaurs, musicals and the answer to forever classic question “It ain’t white boy day, is it?” Movies run every Sunday in the backyard at 8pm through August 31, and with a lineup like this, it’ll be worth making the trip out a few times even if you don’t live in the neighborhood.
