Despite spending a year on the campaign trail with them, we’re still learning new things about the de Blasio family every day. Dante, for instance, is a school kingpin in the making. And while Chiara probably won’t be in the public eye as much as her brother, the witch hat-wearing daughter of the family revealed an awesome facet of her life to Teen Vogue: that she is a teenage metalhead. All of it, from old school metal to Scandinavian folk metal. This family, man.
Talking with Teen Vogue about her life in a politically active New York family, Chiara mentioned her love of all things metal as one of the things that mark her “true city kid” appeal. The money quote:
Her music of choice? All metal everything: “Old school metal, thrash metal, death metal, the new wave of British heavy metal. In terms of more modern stuff, I’ve gotten into Scandinavian, folk, and Viking metal. Dante loves metal now too, thanks to me.”
Despite the fact that she doesn’t mosh any more, it comforts us to know that the mayor’s daughter is the kind of girl who can appreciate the finer things in life, like Ronnie James Dio, Dying Fetus and Rhapsody.
