The Greenpoint Library is looking for a Michelangelo (or Michelangelette) to beautify their building. The Friends of Greenpoint Library are looking to commission an NYC-based artist to decorate their street-facing wall, though presumably with fewer bearded God figures than Michelangelo would have preferred. The chosen painter will not only have their work displayed on a community landmark, they’ll also be rewarded with a thousand bucks.
The mural, which will be on the exterior brick wall facing Norman Ave, is to be painted in three panels, so you can do one of those fancy triptych things that they loved in the Byzantine Period. Or not. We’re not the ones commissioning you after all. Each panel is 13’10″W x 5’2″ H, divided by a 1’W window, and the work will be done with eco-friendly AFM safe coat paint, provided by the Friends of Greenpoint Library.
Digital submissions will be accepted and decided upon by an internal panel, and the final design will be voted on by library patrons. All those interested should email friendsofgreepointlibrary [at] googlegroups [dot] com with questions or submissions.
The project will commence in the spring, but the deadline is in six days, so give your muse a booty call and get started this weekend!

My name is Talon and my friend told me about what you’re doing and I would LOVE to be a part of it. I’m a Brooklyn based artist originally from California. I work with anything I can make art out of. Mixed media artist I would say. I was a part of the RAW artists show in Brooklyn this past week. It was amazing. Anyway, I would love to ne a part of this! You can find some of my art at https://m.facebook.com/?refsrc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F&_rdr#!/TalonAnthonyGeer?__user=1045950014
