So we’re all very excited, and maybe a little grossed out, by the thought of the East River pool. But let’s not miss the pools for the diving boards: Brooklyn has a bunch of awesome pools even without a floating one. And just like last year, we can add one to the list, because the Brooklyn Bridge Park’s pop-up pool is coming back next Thursday, June 27, when the rest of the city’s pools open.
As per an email from the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, the pool will be coming back to pier 2 at the park next Thursday, opening at 10am. It will stay open until 6pm each day, and swimming sessions in the pool will last for 45 minutes, starting every hour on the hour. Even if you’re not swimming, you can hang out in the beach area surrounding the pool, which will have chairs and picnic tables if you wan to get a tan, and umbrellas if you want to remain pasty through the summer.
Even better, the pop-up is getting a Lizzmonade concession stand that will be slinging lemonade and snacks while the pool is open, and then at 6pm, switching over to adult fare like sangria and beer when the pool is closed and the kids have gone home. A pool and another place to drink outdoors? Truly this is the stuff of heaven.
