Last night just before midnight, Bed-Stuy’s Do or Dine, which had become a culinary hotspot since opening in 2011, announced it was suddenly closing “for the foreseeable future” on the restaurant’s Facebook page, website and Twitter account. No reason, beyond a Facebook comment (“Dreams > $”) has been given for the sudden closure of the restaurant that had become famous for items like Dr. Pepper-glazed frog’s legs and foie gras doughnuts while still having room for a $5 beer and shot combo and backyard Wii and dance party.
It looks like September 6 was the last night the Do or Dine was open, with people at their Rub-A-Grub dance party taking to Instagram to memorialize the restaurant before they’d announced to the general public that they were closing.

The sudden closure is an unexpected twist for Do or Dine, which and comes just days after co-owner Justin Warner had made news for raising $16,000 for a Bed-Stuy charity by winning Guy’s Grocery Games. Unless the dream alluded to in the Facebook comment put up this morning was Warner’s dream of closing his restaurant and becoming Guy Fieri’s sidekick on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which would kind of make sense given all the time Warner just spent on one of his shows.
