If you have been staring at that bare patch in your backyard all summer, now is your best chance to fill it for free! Brooklyn Bridge Park is hosting its annual Free Tree Giveaway this Saturday. One hundred trees will be given away between 10am and noon as part of Bloomberg’s MillionTreesNYC initiative to make NYC more sustainable. The trees will be in a two-gallon barrel for transportation, and come with a planting and care guide in addition to a tree care workshop taking place at the event. Although registration for this event has filled already, there will be trees available on a first come first serve basis (registration for later giveaways can be found here).
