Summer is coming, we swear it will be here before you know it. After we get through this snowstorm that is. If you need something to keep you warm through the snow the next couple of days because you’ve already burned all of your roommate’s clothes, how’s this: You can start getting excited for June’s Northside Festival because Scottish electro trio CHVRCHES is playing one of the free McCarren Park shows at North 12th and Bedford Avenue. [Update: RSVP is open now!]

Yep that’s right, the show, on June 15, will be one thousand percent free. All you need to do is sign up here to get an email for when RSVPs open, and then you have to get there early on Sunday. That’s because even if you RSVP for the show, you aren’t guaranteed admission to the show. Sure the McCarren Park asphalt can hold 6,000 people, but do you think that CHVRCHES only has 5,000 fans in all of New York City?

Of course, if you wan to make sure you get to hang out with all the other CHVRCHES fans and see the band you all share, you can just buy a Northside pass. A music badge is just $65 and will guarantee entry for you to the show, while also getting you access to shows featuring the likes of Titus Andronicus, official Brokelyn crush Sharon Van Etten and Syrian folksinger Omar Suleyman. Of course, if you don’t want to get a badge and get shut out of the show, we’ve got a primer on how to enjoy the McCarren Park show experience outside the gates. You’re welcome.
