Cowabunga! Get free pizza and help local business recover from Sandy

Looking to spread a little holiday cheer? The soon-to-open Ditmas Park pizzeria, Wheated, needs donations to help recover expensive equipment destroyed during Hurricane Sandy.

Wheated was scheduled to open in January before the storm destroyed a storage unit containing the owner’s Italian pizza ovens worth $30,000. Ineligible for FEMA or insurance funding, Wheated’s owner David Sheridan started a crowd-source campaign on Small Knot and promises free pizza to donors who give $25, and gift certificates to people who donate larger sums when the pizzeria opens in February. If you got it, flaunt it, because $500 gets you a free pizza party!

Wheated friend Paul Giannone, proprietor of the legendary pizza shop, Paulie Gee’s in Greenpoint, will give his customers a free Regina pie if they donate to Sheridan’s cause. Heyoo!
