The dog days of summer are in full effect and it’s too hot to think about doing much at night other than finding a place for water to wash over your body constantly. Good thing we’ve got the perfect hot summer weekend plan for you: Brokelyn is teaming with Lakeside at Prospect Park and Lola Star’s Dreamland roller disco to bring you Pour Some Water on Me: An 80s Splashback Party!
We’re bringing games and Super Soakers to the splashpad, where you can dance along to the 80s hair metal tunes from Dreamland’s DJ. You’ll want to get there early too: we’ve got an hour of Brooklyn Brewery open bar (while supplies last) to kick off the night! And one more thing: we’re bringing back the legendary all-male wet T-shirt contest.
What is the splashpad? It’s a big open area next to the skating rink, surrounded by water jets that you can dance around and splash in. Water shoots out from the sides and fills the pad — it gets about ankle deep so it’s up to you how wet you get. Usually it’s a kids-only space, but we’re opening it up to adults for the first 21 and over splash party at the park. Bring your 80s spandex bathing suits or Bugle Boy board shorts, BYO Super Soaker and don’t forget a towel!
Admission is $18 and includes skate rental and admission to the roller rink, so you’re welcome to hop back and forth between the two (dry off before you go into the rink so no one slips, please). Buy your tickets here before they sell out!
So bring your motley crew, your twisted sister and your Def leopard-print outfits and help us celebrate the fact that another hot and sexy Brooklyn summer isn’t quite over yet. In addition to dancing, skating and beer lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery, we’ll also have:
-Water hose limbo
-Raffle prizes that remind you there are some things to look forward to after summer’s over
-Chances to win one of the few remaining budget-saving Brokelyn Beer and Cocktail Books
-And the return of … the famed all-male wet T shirt contest!
