Hey, do you live in Ditmas Park? Or are just so full of civic pride and want to help people clean up their neighborhoods? Boy, you sure are charitable, aren’t you? Well, whether you want to clean your neighborhood or just help other people, you’ll have a chance to on Saturday when the Church Avenue Business Improvement District does a cleanup down the length of Church Avenue.
Tomorrow from 9am to 2pm, volunteers with the Church Avenue BID will meet up on East 17th Street and Church Avenue and begin the process of cleaning along the block. They’ll be painting over graffiti, pulling up weeds in green areas and picking up trash that’s collected along the block. Which is a great idea before the first summer rain pastes it to the street and brings that hot, wet garbage smell to places where it could have been avoided.
And why do you get for your hard work? Actually, a decent reward. You get a Church Avenue BID t-shirt, but more importantly, there’s a post-cleanup barbecue at 2, when everyone’s done beautifying the block. If you want to be a part of it, shoot an email to info [at] churchavenue.org or call (718)282-2500, extension 63237. Should you volunteer? We think so. After all, this city is a part of us all… a part of us all… a part of us all! Sorry to repeat ourselves but it’ll help you remember.
