Let’s start with this – You can get TWO FREE DRINKS! This Sunday, February 10th from 1pm to 7pm at the Greenpointers Vintage Rose Valentine’s market, there will be plenty of things to do while you sip on some mulled wine, beer, bubblys, CBD kombucha, or rosewater gimlets, inside a Brooklyn historic landmark, the Greenpoint Loft – all for the Brokester friendly cost of FREE.
True to its throwback theme – before swiping left or right and sliding into DMs was ever a thing – this market is all about IRL, when handmade, handwritten, and real life conversations were alive and well. So grab your favorite person or even fur friend to hang out, make something, support local indie makers, while enjoying any of these FREE activities:
Find the “write” words with Ars Poetica, a Brooklyn-based international company of artists and poets. Sweep that sweetie off their feet with a personalized typewritten poem. It’s not exactly your own words. But hey, it’s the thought that counts.
Make a dream catcher, get henna tattooed, get your face painted, and get your nails done and commemorate the moment in the Greenpointers photo booth. From oversized 3 dimensional rose gardens to groovy paper cut outs, every market features an in-theme art installation where you can striking a pose.
While the queen of 90s grunge fashion designer Elisa Jimenez of Project Runway fame and dressing stars like Courtney Love is showing her latest creations and demonstrating her custom couture skills, she will also be doing readings and opening up your third eye (not) blind.
Waterfront views get kind of expensive around here but you can chill out on Greenpoint Loft’s roof deck for the affordable price of free. Breathe in the fresh NYC air and yeah we’re in the middle of winter but it wouldn’t be unheard of these days to get a warm enough day to soak in the sun. (Thank you, climate change?)
Not for free is the 60+ vendors at the market who will be having handcrafted items and food for sale. And you should support these local indie makers if you can. But if budget is tight and you don’t want to go empty handed, visit Living the Dream Catchers for a donation-based dream catcher workshop for a DIY gift of your dreams.
Greenpointers markets goers from last year say that Love Always Band rocked out with happy tunes and good vibes. They have an electrifying energy that makes you want to just dance. But you have to see it to believe it. Just be there and get groovy.
For all you kids and kids-at-heart, Success Academy Williamsburg will have and arts and crafts area to make – you guessed it – roses.
