If you live in Brooklyn and read this site, odds are you have a blog, have dreams of starting one or, at the very least, have a regular rotation of your favorite blogoville residents you check each day to stay informed (or maybe just stay procrastinated). As cut-throat as New York City is, Brooklyn bloggers are an intensely supportive and friendly bunch; now we’re coming again together for one of our favorite causes — drinking, mingling, seeing your face — and an actual cause: helping a Bay Ridge family facing a double-dose of aggressive cancer. Join us as we form a superfecta with our friends (and kick-ass blogs) Fucked in Park Slope, the skint and Brooklyn Based May 17 for the 2011 Brooklyn Blogger Meetup at the Bell House! Details below:
Last year’s blogger meetup was a huge hit that packed the Bell House’s front lounge — we left with a handful of business cards, a gaggle of new Twitter friends, some Obama-themed condoms for some reason and … a righteous hangover. The same fun will be back this year, except 100 percent of the $5 entry fee will go to Nathan Bond and his wife Elisa, who were each diagnosed with advanced stage cancer the very same week. Their friends and family are helping the couple raise funds to deal with their ever growing medical bills, as well as the care of their 18-month-old daughter, Sadie. Get your tickets here.
We’ll have Blogger Lager drink specials and our own hashtag — #bkblogs — so everyone can holla @ each other from two feet away. Do you have to be a blogger to attend? The official line is “No, but it helps.” But no one will be Googling you at the door.
The event is sponsored by our friends at Signpost too (click on that link for an exclusive offer for joining Signpost). Charge up your iPhone and get your business cards ready!
