Oui, Oui! Park Slope style coop to open in Paris

Imagine this, but on a sultry nuit in Paris

Brooklyn isn’t just a place, it’s a state of mind. You can already drink a “Park Slope Collins” at Bar Brooklyn in Sweden, get a Brooklyn-style haircut at Chop-Chop salon in Moscow and soon, there’ll be another target on the BK invasion: a market modeled after the Park Slope food coop in Paris. Grub Street reports that two American ex-pats Tom Boothe and Brian Horihan are opening “Coopérative La Louve” in Northern Paris, the latest stop on Brooklyn brand’s world tour.

The coop will function similarly to Park Slope’s, with members working a few hours a month in exchange for access to higher quality food at lower prices. Boothe, who says culinary hotbeds in Paris are limited to affluent neighborhoods, doesn’t just want to feed the bobos. That’s why he and Horihan plan to open it in a 13,000 square foot space in Paris’ 18th arrondisement, a low-income, immigrant-heavy neighborhood, instead of somewhere more “branché”–apparently French for “hip.”

The project isn’t slated to open until June 2015, but already Boothe and Horihan have raised more than $40,000 euros via a French Kickstarter, and have attracted 600 members to a backing association “Les Amis de la Louve.” Sounds like “le Brooklyn” to us.
