Brooklyn Cyclones holding ‘Salute to Seinfeld Night’ on July 5

The only remaining question is whether the Staten Island Yankees hold a “Todd Barry Night” in retaliation

There’s nothing like minor league baseball promotions, especially when the Cyclones do them. Already the proud organizers of Manti Te’o night, along with both a Williamsburg night and a dinosaur night, they know how to do the ridiculous but intriguing really well. And that tradition will carry on this year when for whatever reason, the team honors the 25th anniversary of the July 5 Seinfeld premiere, by holding “Salute to Seinfeld Night” at MCU Park. Sorry, we meant Vandelay Industries Park. And that’s just the tip of the Seinfeld iceberg.

July 5’s Salute to Seinfeld Night will be a celebration of everything about the show about nothing, offering mailmen in uniform a chance to throw out the first pitch and turning the information table into a place for airing of grievances. For those who aren’t mailmen or angry, there will contests, both an Elaine dancing one and a cereal eating one. There’s plenty more promised for the night, but the thing that we’re most excited about?

A freaking Keith Hernandez bobblehead doll. And not one of him in his ’86 Mets uniform, but one where he’s relaxing casually on a seat from Jerry’s apartment, wearing that tan jacket he wore in the episode he guest starred in. Seeing as how Jerry Seinfeld is actually a Mets fan in real life, and has been known to hang around Coney Island, maybe he might show up, who knows. But even if he doesn’t, that’s a pretty, pretty, prettay good promotional night the Cyclones have going for them, so be sure to remember that single game Cyclones tickets go on sale at 10am on Saturday, May 10.
