Don’t move to NOLA just yet: New Bed-Stuy bar selling $8 Daiquiris

A sister bar to Crown Heights’ cajun kitchen Catfish – where hot sauce lines the walls and $1 oysters & absinthe abound – has officially soft opened just over the neighborhood boundary in Bed-Stuy. The Holler, which will officially open September 14, also has that New Orleans vibes, but darker, with more frozen drinks and a ’90s CD jukebox, less sauce, no food and the same amount of pinball. It’s a few blocks above Atlantic, in the former home of One Last Shag at 348 Franklin Ave.

Highlights of the freshly opened space include a Creature of the Black Lagoon pinball machine, black glitter wallpaper, a jukebox, the option to order in food and eat it at the bar or in one of three secluded booths (Chilo’s is less than a block away), and three alcoholic New Orleans-styled Daiquiri machines ($8/per Daiquiri) which can be combined for, “the alleged Cremesicle result,” reports Catfish employee Hope Morawa. There’s a solid list of familiar drafts, cocktails including an $8 Moscow Mule and $9 Sazerac, and a not-yet-open backyard (the goal is next spring).

Guess you don’t have to move out of Brooklyn to New Orleans after all. (Soft open hours are currently 7pm-4am-ish.)

  • Only bars that come close to a Nola feeling in Brooklyn from what I've seen are Bar chord and Barbes.. but I'm talking more overall vibe than just drinks.
