Kids love climbing, but in a city notably devoid of tall gnarly oaks and secret tree houses, climbing mostly means lugging mom’s groceries up a fifth floor walkup. But lucky for them, we have a huge colorful climbing center at Brooklyn Boulders. And lucky for you — if you like adventures with kids, that is —Brooklyn Boulders is looking for volunteers to help show a small group of kids the ropes on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 11am-1pm through November. The climbing center’s Pieter Cooper says he’s looking for people to teach groups of six to nine kids how to belay and other climbing basics; in exchange, you can hit the wall for free.
