5 Brooklynites On Their Fave Cheap Activities

Looking for a little something to do in Brooklyn on the cheap? Sure you are. We asked five Brooklyn residents about their favorite go-to, budget-friendly activities in the borough, and they recommended something for everyone.

For rock climbers & cinema buffs

“Rock climbing for $10 at Brooklyn Boulders under the bridge and free Sunday night movies at Havana Outpost.” – Katie Longofono

For witches & candle lovers

“Buy candles from the dollar store.” (Brooklyn pro-tip: “There’s a dollar store near Little Skips east. They have tons of tapers for under two bucks. It’s amazing.”) – Dianca London

For lovers of nature & spooky stuff

“Take a walk through Green-Wood Cemetery!” – Andi Talarico

For art enthusiasts

BRIC Arts Media has public galleries and performance spaces, as well as workplaces that ANYONE can use to make different kinds of media art (as long as they meet the basic requirements.) UrbanGlass also has a public gallery space. Plus, many classes are open to people with zero glass experience. From time to time, they have open houses, demos, and even performances involving glass.” – Christine Stoddard

For yogis, tea-sippers, & foodies

“Bed Stuy’s boutique yoga studio And Yoga Studios is pretty lovely. It’s $139 for unlimited all-access classes per month (which works out to about $7 a class). I also love walking around Brooklyn Heights, especially Joralemon Street. Around that area, Perelandra Natural Food Center has an amazing selection of loose leaf tea and herbals that are inexpensive but high quality. I love them! And then there’s Teresa’s on Montague Street, which is my fave Polish diner for cheap pierogis.” – Darley Stewart
