What deals can you rack up at Loehmann’s liquidation sales?

Legendary NYC designer discount store Loehmannn’s filed for bankruptcy last month, another augur of changing New York, though really we see it as part of the trend of off-price retailers like Filene’s and Daffy’s going out of business. Whether you feel sentimental about the shuttering of an old-school institution or you’re a clothes horse always on the look-out for a steal, Loehmann’s is having liquidation sales at all 39 of its nationwide locations (two in Manhattan, one in Brooklyn, in Sheepshead Bay) from now until it closes in March.

We were tickled to learn that the first ever Loehmann’s opened 93 years ago in Brooklyn, on Bedford Avenue and Sterling Place in Crown Heights (now a gospel church). Since the beginning, Loehmann’s has been known for its “Back Room,” which savvy proprietor Frieda Loehmann fitted with top-end brands she snagged from overstocks at designer showrooms, then sold at discounted rates.

We hear shoppers can expect to find prices marked down anywhere from 10%-40%—remember that’s in addition to the original markdown, which ranges from 30%-65% off.

Please check out the scene for us, as we are busy blogging, but so curious about what kind of goods are in store. Post your finds in the comments!
