House of Vans releases very, very preliminary schedule for free summer shows

Just yesterday we were wondering when the schedule for the free House of Vans (25 Franklin Street) shows would be appearing, so that we could justify our plan to set up a tent on Franklin Street in order to beat the line. Vans must have our heads bugged like the NSA, because hey, here they are with a schedule of shows. Well, kind of. We know what days the shows will be on, but only two of them have been announced. On the other hand, they’ve also got a new beer sponsor, which could be good news.

The only two shows, all of which have doors open at 7pm and are first-come first-in, on the calendar at the moment are the kickoff show on June 12, featuring soul survivor Charles Bradley and slack rocker Mac DeMarco, and the June 19 show with indie bleep bloop electronica band STRFKR and disco dudes Poolside. After that, we know there are more dates set aside, but no bands have been announced to fill said dates.

That’s the bad-ish news. The good news is that the House of Vans shows have a new beer sponsor, Shiner Beer. It’s not that free beer is ever bad, but if the new sponsor means a change from beer-flavored water Heineken Light to refreshing and delicious Shiner, we can get behind that no matter who’s playing. The full, mysterious schedule is below:

June 12: Charles Bradley, Mac DeMarco, Benjamin Booker
June 19: STRFKR, Poolside, Chrome Sparks

[UPDATE 6/10: The rest of the schedule has been released

July 3: The Black Lips, Nightbirds, Special Guest
July 10: Gorilla Biscuits, Bouncing Souls, Special Guest
August 7: Future Islands, Omar Suleyman, Mas Ysa
August 14: Holy Ghost! Kim Anne Foxman, Dave P
